The Golden Bridge Collection is the featured model of Corum, whose creative inspiration originated from the Golden Gate Bridge over the Golden Gate Strait in San Francisco. Inspired by the famous bridge, Dino Modolo combined fine watchmaking technique with architectural art to achieve the first model in 1980. The rectangle in-house movement goes through a case from 12 O’clock to 6 O’clock, unique in the whole watchmaking field. The unique movement was equipped in a rectangle or tonneau case until 2015. To 2016, the first Golden Bridge Round was unveiled at the Baselworld. Golden Bridge Round with a rectangle movement made a hit in the watchmaking market, popular with female consumer. Corum Golden Bridge Collection expanded the wider market further. At this year’s Baselworld, Corum launched novelties again.

The bezel and lugs are set with 76 pieces of round Wesselton diamonds (rubies, sapphire gems or amethyst). 60 pieces of tiny round gems in the inner ring refer to the 60-minute scales. The dial is divided into three parts, two half-moon shape and the central gear train. Every half moon-structured plywood is decorated with 6 pieces of leaf-shaped diamonds, 12 pieces of round diamonds in different sizes and 23 pieces of tiny round diamonds on the long, arc surface. In total, there are 218 pieces of gems on a case and a dial. It took a jeweler approx a week to finish the Jewelcrafting. The new Memovox wristwatch was inspired by the first Polaris Memovox, so it is more loyal to the original model, whose many designs reflect vintage style, such as white luminescent materials, trapezoid hour markers, crown-styled buttons and Memovox. White decoration stands out on black dial. The black dial includes four parts, the inclined ring with dots, batons and numbers, the grainy hour area, the narrow track-typed scale circle and the smooth rotatable central disc with a triangle and “MEMOVOX” logo. Baton-shaped hands and a slim second hand spin on the black dial. Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Memovox Ref.9038670 is fitted with in-house Cal.956 with 45 hours of power reserve.

The biggest feature of reference 9038670 is Memovox and 20-bar water resistance. Among the models released at SIHH 2018, Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Memovox Ref.9038670 is the only one with 200-meter water resistance. But, the appendant branch tells that the watch should not be used for diving or sports involving major risks, such as sailboard or water skiing. It means it isn’t suggested to be a professional diver watch, so it’s OK to swim or bath. The sound of the alarm clock spreads well under the water, but the alarm clock is set only once before users go down the water. If you want to delay, it will be impossible to pull up the button under the water. How to use the alarm clock? Supposing it’s 10 O’clock now, you want it sound a warning at 10:30, and you just rotate the triangle and make it point to 10:30. Memovox is an interesting design, but in fact, it plays a minor role. Also, the supple black rubber bracelet is comfortable, and even its length can encircle the ankle a circle. The case-back with “50th anniversary 1968-2018” pays homage to the first Polaris Memovox.
