“It is really inappropriate to call our planet “earth” which is covered by the ocean”.-said Arthur Charles Clarke
The Monaco Yacht Show set sail again, and the Ulysse Nardin watch showcases four new Diver Chronometer Limited Edition Wristwatches for men. The Diver series is born with a free spirit, and the new watch exudes a dazzling brilliance of contemporary features from the inside out. In addition to the two versions of Deep Blue and All Black, there are two new works, the Diver White Shark Diving Watch and the Monaco Limited Edition. These sturdy yet elegant timepieces will be made up of the Ulysse Nardin watch fleet, the contemporary Ulysses, which was specially presented during the 2018 Monaco Yacht Show, symbolizing the start of the countdown to the Ulysse Nardin watch and opening an exciting new journey of the dive watch.
Like the supernova in the universe, the new Diver Chronometer has once again defined what is functional elegance with its bold design. A diving watch with a water resistance of 300 meters needs to withstand the suffocating water pressure. Counter-clockwise one-way diving timing concave bezel and vaulted sapphire crystal glass is an innovative design of the fine watchmaking industry. The watch with the 44mm diameter is equipped with the ingenious UN-118 movement, which uses the brand’s expertise in silicon technology to appreciate the movement through the transparent case back. Both the hour markers and the hands are covered with a luminous coating, so that the watch can be read clearly not only at night, but even in the deep sea. The dial has a power reserve display at 12 o’clock, a date window and a small seconds at 6 o’clock, and a one-way rotating bezel.
The scale on the bezel has been redesigned for easy reading of 0, 15, 30, 45 minutes. The rubber and titanium straps of the Diver Chronometer watch have also been redesigned to replace the folding clasp with a pin buckle. The overall strap is smoother, and it features a highly recognizable iconic Ulysse Nardin watch. The crown is protected by rubber and is safe and reliable.
Freelance diver and Ulysse Nardin watch brand ambassador Fred Buyle shared how the Ulysse Nardin watch is a partner on his journey: “The biggest advantage of free diving is that you don’t have to carry too much equipment. Usually, you only started off by taking a diving suit, a diving watch, a pair of frogs shoes, a mirror and camera. For free divers, the diving watch is the most important piece. When you dive freely, you will have a special connection with time – sometimes You will feel that time passes quickly, and sometimes, time seems to slow down or even stop. The watch becomes your friend at this time. So, I have been wearing an Ulysse Nardin Diver Chronometer watch, it can help me monitor my perception of time. An automatic mechanical watch is especially important at the moment, it calms your heart because you don’t have to worry about it running out of battery on a long journey.”
